Why study the Bible? Why do Christians read & study the Bible? Why read the Bible again & again?
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2 Tim 3.16-17
The knowledge & wisdom of God Almighty are unfathomable & unending. Thus, His truth has the same perpetual power that can continually instruct us, though in our finiteness it’s impossible to fully comprehend it. As humans that have fallen from God’s grace, we all tend to forget things, get easily distracted, are too self-focused at times, are often swayed by what other fallen humans think or say & have sinful natures that turn us away from a holy God. Thus, we always have a need for God to teach us a thing or two.
God’s Word has a way of shedding light on our very thoughts & motives. At times we may not even like what it tells us, but if it’s true, should that even matter? After all, it is God revealing this to us. Yet at other times the revelation of who God is & what He’s doing is humbling & overwhelming. Still other times are filled with pure joy & anticipation of God’s plans for His people.
For those who have acknowledged their sinfulness before God & wholly trusted that Jesus Christ was punished in their place providing full forgiveness & eternal life, they receive deeper guidance from God's Holy Spirit through His Word (Ps 25.5, Jn 14.17, 26). Such believers love God for saving them & giving them spiritual & eternal life. They know God & want to please & serve Him. Therefore, Christians look to God to actively teach & guide them in their lives by studying the Bible & striving to apply it. Whether you are simply curious about the Bible, are a new believer or are a believer that’s struggled to read the Bible, I challenge you to make time to open up God’s living Word to you – the Bible & ask Him to teach you something. You can also use websites like www.biblegateway.com or www.biblia.com (In some cases you can even listen to it being read). If you’re new to the Bible, I’d recommend starting with the books of John, Matthew & Romans.
Consider these Bible verses regarding God’s Word:

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Heb 4.12
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. – 2 Pet 1.21
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. – Dt 29.29
“Is not my word like fire,” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?” – Jer 23.29
…My word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. – Isa 55.11
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. – Jesus in Mt 24.35
